Posted in 5DMII, Available Light, Long exposures on July 5, 2013 by budbranchThis was the 4th of July fireworks display in Taos NM – the first time I’d ever seen it. It started before the sky was totally dark, which afforded some NICE cloud background. Also, the air is very dry, which I think must favor nice sharp photos. I was shooting the 17-40 at ISO200, f/7-10, 2-5sec exposures using a cable release. Toward the end, I went to bulb mode and manually started/stopped the exposures, since they were throwing up SO much stuff at one time!

Group Portrait: Fire-Flies
Posted in 5DMII, Available Light, Composite, Long exposures on June 23, 2013 by budbranchI made this composite photo using the same techniques and software that I use to make star-trail images! I seek dense swarms of fireflies – if you know of a good place, please be in touch?
